According to The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), there are some foods which should be eaten in proper moderation. Even the healthy food items like quinoa and oatmeal can be harmful to your health, if not taken in moderation. So, in order to be healthy throughout your life, you must know what quantity you should consume. Here is a list of 10 healthy foods that will certainly open your eyes and will make you believe that too much of anything is, injurious to health!

1. Quinoa

Quinoa is a gluten-free plant food, which contains high fiber & protein and is very nutritious for our body. However, too much quinoa on your plate can result into stomach ache, diarrhea, bloating and even discomfort. This happens because your body cannot handle too much fiber present in it. Also, it contains a naturally-occurring chemical called saponins, which can cause stomach-issues if quinoa is not washed well.

2. Tomato

Tomato contains antioxidant lycopene, which has several health benefits such as reduced risk of heart disease and cancer. However, tomatoes are also acidic which means the pH level in it are way less than other produce. This can lead to heartburn in your body as tomatoes contain citric and malic acid, which can cause acid reflux. Apart from this too much tomatoes can also lead to kidney stones, so it is advisable to limit your intake of tomatoes.

3. Olive oil

It is one of the healthiest oils that people consume in their diet. It is an important part of the Mediterranean diet. However, even an excessive intake of olive oil can lead to severe issues such as stroke, kidney failure and dizziness. This happens as olive oil can impact a massive fall in blood pressure.

4. Dates

Dates or commonly called Khajoor are known to be naturally sweet and its taste is so good that you cannot stop at one. This can pose a natural threat to your body and can cause abdominal issues, skin rashes and even asthma attacks. It can even increase the risk of hyperkalemia as it is loaded with potassium.

5. Beans

Loaded with essentials nutrients and antioxidants, beans are known to be super-healthy. However, as you know beans are rich in non-digestible fiber that can cause gastrointestinal problems such as bloating, diarrhea and even gas. Also, if you are going to cook beans in your lunch, wash them several times and change the soaking water.

6. Soy milk

Soy milk is known to be rich in protein and has fewer calories than dairy milk. It’s a plant-based milk which can be useful for those intolerant to dairy milk. However, it can cause fertility problems in women. Overconsumption of soy milk is also linked to premature puberty. Thus, should be avoided by kids!

10. Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate is a semi-sweet blend of 70-80 percent cocoa and sugar, eating which has proven to be highly beneficial for the body. However, not eating in moderation can cause severe issues such as –hypertension, indigestion and even heartburn. Its psychoactive effects can even lead to depression and lethargy.
